Royal British Legion Centenary Poppy Sculpture

The Shropshire Poppy Appeal and St Chad's Church have been working with two local artists, Lyn Evans and Nik Burns along with Martin Phillips of Heritage Schools to commemorate this special year.

Over 80 primary schools in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin have helped to create a one-off sculpture which will stand as a lasting legacy to the 5,286 lives lost from Shropshire during the First World War.

We offered to write the names of 52 fallen soldiers with connections to Church Aston in poppies that would then be turned into the large sculpture for the Royal British Legion Centenary Poppy Sculpture.

Mrs Cusack went along to the Great War Remembrance Service and the unveiling of the sculpture recently at St Chad's Church, Shrewsbury and she kindly took photographs for us.
