We have been discussing dreams and goals and learning that big dreams can be achieved with hard work and persistence. We also discussed that team work is important to achieve goals. Today we looked at lots of pictures of beautiful gardens and we created dream birds with a partner of a small group. The birds all signified a variety of elements such as being helpful, healthy, kind, calm, loving and caring.
P.E
Class 2 have been working on their gymnastic skills. We have been doing straddle rocks, dish rocks, tuck rocks and pike rocks.
We have been learning about Calypso music and call and response. We practised with a partner. We altered the dynamics and made a simple score based on how soft or loud to sing the tune.
Ship's Ahoy - Topic Work
This week Class 2 have been learning about the different roles there are on a Tudor ship. They have explored being a carpenter, cook, surgeon and a gunner. Next, they will apply for a job as part of the crew with the explorer Christopher Columbus. Below are some quotes from the children on what jobs they would like to do on the ship.
‘I’d like to be a carpenter because I’d like to design a ship. I made a ship with LEGO at home.’
‘I want to be a surgeon on the ship because when my teddies get injuries I try and help them like a doctor, and I know how to use a first aid kit.’
‘We want to be a cook on a ship because you can smell the yummy food and we like to cook. We will boil meat and fish.’
'I want to fire the cannons.’
‘I want to be a gunner because I would be good at protecting my crew.’
‘I would be good at fighting because I am strong and I could use all the bow and arrows.’
We have been learning all about sign language. We cut out the signs for the letters in our names and all tried to sign our name.
We worked in groups to sort a variety of materials by their properties.
Today Class 2 were busy programming the Beebots using different commands. It was very important we used very clear commands, and they matched the outcome we wanted.
Snow Play
First day back to school and we got to play in the snow. What fun we had!
A group of year 2 children took part in an KS1 Indoor Kwik Cricket Festival. The children worked hard on their batting skills and developing their fielding skills. It was wonderful to see the children becoming team players and alert fielders.
