Place Value Using Money
Children needed to build a shop. They went shopping to buy items that they could then label and sell on to their friends. They represented a two digit number using 10p and 1p coins and used these to also buy the items for their shop.
We explored the possible ways of arranging 6 cubes to make a two digit number on a tens/units abacus.
