The Day Class 1 Froze
As part of our Literacy and Geography curriculum in Class 1 we looked at frozen places in our world such as the Arctic and Antarctica . We based some work around the story 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers.
Flipped Learning Homework Project
It was wonderful to see such a variety of homework based around frozen places. Thank you for supporting your child at home to complete their projects.
Science - Floating and Sinking
We looked at a range of materials and investigated if these would sink or float. We sorted these into categories of sinking and floating.
Following on from this we listened to the story 'Lost and Found' and went on to design a boat using materials of our own choice from our investigation. We then all tested our boats to see if they would float or sink.
Class 1 really enjoyed the visit from the cooking bus and had a fabulous time making healthy banana and raisin cakes.
As part of our ‘All about Me’ topic, Class 1 have been learning about each other’s pets. We completed a survey to see which was the most popular pet and painted pictures of our pets.
Chetwynd Deer Park
We all had a very enjoyable day at Chetwynd Deer Park. Children participated in many activities such as measuring trees, creating firework pictures using leaves, leaf collection and going on a tractor ride to see the deer.
We used a variety of media and different techniques to create some beautiful pictures of trees.
Science - Who Am I?
We listened to the story Funnybones. We then drew our own funnybones skeletons!
Science - Who am I?
In science we investigated our five senses. We made telephones and tested them with a partner using our sense of hearing.
Art / Science - Who am I?
Looking carefully at ourselves in a mirror we created our own self portrait.
